Reconstruction and Jim Crow: Class and Homework

Our objective is to examine visual and written evidence related to Jim Crow laws during and following the period of Reconstruction, 1865 to 1875.

Please follow these steps:
1. Enter the site: Reconstruction: Jim Crow (PBS Site)
2. Read the introduction on the home page.
3. Click on "A National Struggle" and make a set of 8 facts about racial segregation and discrimination issues of the 1800's. (5 points)
4. Return to the Home page and click "Jim Crow Stories." Choose any ONE story to summarize with a set of 6-8 notes. (5 points)
5. Use these notes to compose a paragraph. Title the paragraph with the name of the person whose story you have read, watched, or listened-to. (5 points)
6. Return to the Home page and click "Tools and Activities". Choose one of the three sections, Voting, Ways of Seeing, or Racial Realities. Complete the activity and write a 2-3 sentences reaction or summary of what you have learned. (5 points).
7. Take the "Jim Crow Quiz" and write your score.
